Holy Crap, it took me the better part of the evening to ensure that I have all of the above mentioned services up and running. It definitely is networking overload. So while my websites are all easily found and indexed high in Google, it just seems odd to me.
Social networks have seemingly replaced the sort of idle chit chat that once took place at the corner store or around the office water cooler. They aren't the forum where you discuss the significant events of your life, but they are great places to share your holiday photos, personal triumphs, and family events.
Now that I have profiles on all of those sites, I feel somewhat obligated to show up there on occassion and make a post or two. It is sort of like volunteering in real life. We all have great intentions, but once reality sets in we realize the we often spread ourselves thin and take away from our own personal time due to committments to others. Is that what will happen now that I am a member of so many sites? Will I let my own online pursuits take second place to the obligation to visit all these sites and provide updates and changes and post new content?
I love the internet and spend far too many hours here, but geez I miss the water cooler.
