Reading that first paragraph should make any ordinary reader scratch their head and way "what the heck?", but it has a very specific purpose for being there.  That purpose is search engine targeting.  Search engines such as the mighty Google like to scan for keywords, but also like to scan for keyword in relation and location to other keywords in the article and page content.

Active rain is like candy to the google spider and I am sure that this site gets spidered on the most regular and frequent basis.  Having a profile and blog here is an excellent tool for any industry member with a website who hopes to gain pagerank and credibility with search engines.  Of course other criteria such as site functionality and relevance are still important, but the value of writing blogs rich in content and key words should not be overlooked.  Since my personal website is about mortgage and is geographically specific to my market in Lethbridge, I opted to write an opening paragraph that was heavy on that sort of content.  The hopeful result which should be apparent in a short period of time is that this blog page will get picked up by the search engines and be a highly ranked page when a use searches for my keyword terms.

I will come back and edit this blog and amend to it the results 30 days from today.  This will provide some sort of data that others can use to estimate how effective this strategy is.
